MiniNews feed not loading? A short watch checklist
An empty feed, a loading screen and an older headline are different symptoms. Start by identifying which one you see, then change one thing at a time. That makes it easier to tell what helped and to explain the problem if you need support.
1. Check the watch connection first
Try opening the Play Store on the watch and loading a page. This gives you a quick comparison outside MiniNews. If that also fails to load, check the watch's connection before changing your news preferences.
Open your watch's system Settings and look for Connections or Connectivity, then Wi-Fi. Menu names depend on the watch and Wear OS version. If you use a paired phone for connectivity, check that the phone is online and the watch is connected to it. Google's Wear OS Wi-Fi guide explains how to turn Wi-Fi on or add a network.
If other watch apps load normally while MiniNews does not, keep that detail for your support message. It helps separate a general connection problem from a MiniNews-specific one.
2. Review topics without changing everything
In MiniNews, open Settings → Choose Topics and note which topics are selected. For a simple comparison, select one familiar topic and return to the feed. Keep a note of your original selection so you can restore it afterward.
If one topic shows headlines and another does not, report both names. This is more useful than saying only that “the app is empty”: it narrows the problem to a particular selection.
3. Check the news language
Open Settings → Language and confirm the language you intended to read. MiniNews uses this selection for its news feed. A result in one language does not establish that the same topic has current stories in another.
If you can comfortably read another offered language, you can compare the same topic there once, then switch back. Tell support the topic and language combination that did not work. You do not need to change the watch's system language for this check.
4. Describe what you actually see
Return to the feed after the checks. Note whether you see no headlines, a loading indicator, an error message, or headlines that seem older than expected. If the app offers a retry action, try it once after checking connectivity. A screenshot and the exact wording of an error are more helpful than repeatedly changing settings.
If you can open a summary but a full story does not open on your phone, describe that separately: loading the feed and handing an article to the phone are different steps. The MiniNews setup guide covers the normal reading flow.
5. Send a useful support message
Email support@mininews.app with these details:
- Your watch model and Wear OS version, plus the MiniNews version if you can find it.
- The date, approximate time and time zone when you saw the problem.
- The selected topics and news language.
- What appeared on screen and whether another watch app could load.
- Which check changed the result, if any, and a screenshot if useful.
These details give support a reproducible starting point. Leave account passwords and payment details out of the message.
